You're too late Donald, it's great already.
This is a message from the Kibworth & District u3a chairman.
"Thank you all ever so much for coming to today's AGM and talk by Tony Harris. A good talk, such a good talk, the best...
We had 99 people at the meeting, an excellent turnout, so I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
I will print out more copies of the quiz next year. Clearly 40 wasn't enough."
Chairman's welcome speech at the 2026 AGM and January's Third Tuesday Social
I welcome you all to 2026 at the Kibworth and District u3a and another year of exciting talks at our Tuesday Socials.
It takes some organising to run our u3a and I would like to thank committee members for their continuing commitment to bringing you these Tuesday gatherings and supervising the running of the various groups.
We have been exceptionally fortunate in recent years to keep the same team together. At some point though, people have to leave and others must take over.
This year our Secretary, Jill Carter left the committee. We thank Jill for her hard work and time on the committee.
We are saying farewell to David Holtum who is leaving the committee after 7 years as our Treasurer. We thank him for his hard work, not only as Treasurer but also for his work with the early stages of Beacon.
Tony Youngjohns, our current Secretary, will become our new Treasurer and hence the position of Secretary once again falls vacant.
We are saying goodbye to Michael Rodber who has looked after the website and handled the u3a publicity with The Chronicle. He has been part of the team since 2015. We thank him for his years of service to the committee.
Michael will continue as Publicity Officer for a couple of months only, so it is imperative that we have a volunteer for this post.
We are also losing Zoe Adams from the committee who has declined to take on the role of Secretary. We thank Zoe for her time on the committee.
Now, let’s remember those wonderful group leaders who run your groups on a weekly basis with this round of applause.
To ensure we continue to thrive we need a constant supply of new talent to join the committee to bring in fresh ideas. So please consider joining us for a couple of years and ease the burden on those who have given so much to make this u3a what it is today. Please form an orderly queue after this meeting.
This year, we have kept the membership fee at £11. For this, members get 10 Tuesday Socials, a free Christmas Party, u3a insurance and membership of the wider u3a as well as all of their groups. Subs are now due.
